GROUND CONDITIONS
The use of short lengths of screwed casings allow temporary support in almost all ground conditions.

PILE DETAILS
Pile diameters within the range 300mm to 600mm are constructed using percussive rope hung boring tools and temporary steel casings. An open bore allows reinforcement and concrete to be easily introduced and where water cannot be excluded, concrete is placed using tremmie techniques.
Pile depths are often dictated by the temporary casing requirements but pile lengths in excess of 25 metres can normally be achieved. One of the oldest methods of contemporary piling, the system remains appropriate for many situations particularly restricted city centre sites or piling in limited headroom or “island” sites such as bridge piers or sign gantries.

PLANT EMPLOYED
Tripod piling is traditionally carried out using diesel winches operating over a set of tripod legs. In certain circumstances an air-winch or electrically operated winch can be utilised if working within existing buildings and exhausts cannot be easily dealt with. Most items of equipment are readily craned into position.
